2019: Commercial release
At the end of June, 2019 Cobalt Robotics announced an output to the commercial market of the robots security guards patrolling offices, warehouses and parkings. The mass release was adjusted thanks to attraction of $35 million by the company of investments.
This round of financing was headed by Coatue investment firm. Taking into account the concluded bargain the total quantity of the money received by Cobalt Robotics from investors made about $50 million, notes the VentureBeat edition.
Robots from Cobalt Robotics are suitable for work in any commercial buildings — for example, business both data centers and hospitals. "Security guards", using artificial intelligence and machine learning, can find malefactors, leakages the waters open for a door, aggression manifestations, etc. Devices are equipped with 60 sensors and different cameras, including the thermal imager.
Developers note that robots cannot replace completely a security service, but help to cut down the staff of security guards and to save considerably on salaries. In case of emergency emergence the device contacts people and reports on the incident.
According to the experts, Strasts MRC, in 2016 the American companies spent $68 billion for security. It is expected that by 2022 costs will grow to $125 billion. A huge part of these means is spent for salaries to security guards, analysts note.
According to the managing partner of Sequoia Capital Alfred Ling (invested in Cobalt Robotics), because of the become frequent firing cases the American business stays under pressure while requirements of the authorities to security of buildings continue to become tougher. Not all companies are able to afford to keep big staff of security guards. The robotic mechanisms created by a startup Cobalt Robotics allow to solve this problem, Ling considers.[1]
