Tertill (the robot for a kitchen garden)

Product
Developers: Franklin Robotics
Date of the premiere of the system: August, 2019
Branches: Agriculture and fishery
Technology: Robotics

At the end of August, 2019 it became known of release of the Tertill robot which goes on beds and destroys weeds. The device intended for the round-the-clock stay in a garden or a kitchen garden was developed by Franklin Robotics company.

For weeding Tertill uses the simple scheme — weeds short, plants long. The robot, approaching a plant or a weed, activates the sensor which determines height of the object located before it. Having recognized a plant, Tertill, without touching it, is removed. It does not uproot weeds, and mows. Also the device can water plants if necessary.

Franklin Robotics released the Tertill robot who goes on beds and destroys weeds

In the lower part four wheels and the small trimmer are located, and on all circle of boards sensors which help the device to avoid destruction of useful plants are placed and will not allow the device to get stuck somewhere, having got between stones.

Possibilities of the robot impose some restrictions for a landing design. Between cultural plants should be rather empty seat, and the bed should be the most equal that the robot did not get stuck. And that he did not go to weed a neighbour's kitchen garden, section should be protected.

Tertill can eat from the solar battery which is built-in on top. When energy of the sun is not enough for autonomous driving, it is possible to deliver the device on charging through an USB cable. The wireless Bluetooth interface serving for connection of the robot to the smartphone is also provided.

Developers say high rates of water resistance therefore robotic "gardener" can be exploited under heavy rains. At the same time the product does not require difficult service: it is necessary to change only from time to time a fishing line which is used for a podstriganiye of weeds.

The cost of the Tertill robot is $299 by the end of August, 2019.[1]
