Rostelecom started elimination of digital inequality in the Akushinsky district of Dagestan

2019: Construction of the fiber-optic communication line

Rostelecom announced on August 29, 2019 the beginning of construction in Dagestan of fiber optic communication lines in mountain Akushinsky district. Work is carried out within the federal project "Elimination of Digital Inequality" (EDI). Residents of sixteen sparsely populated and remote villages numbering 250 - 500 people until the end of 2019 will have an opportunity free of charge to use the Internet through Wi-Fi access point.

This project is aimed at providing each resident of the country, the region, the village with equal access to communication services. So far in the area there is a basic stage: laying of trunk lines and equipment installation for access to network. Further we will set in each locality of access point of Wi-fi with the 100th meter range. But we are not limited to it. Using a fiber optic cable we can organize to inhabitants individual connection. Also based on the telecom infrastructure created within the UTsN program there will be an opportunity to implement other strategic projects included in the Digital Economy program — Ruslan Yarakhmedov, the director of the Dagestan branch PJSC Rostelecom told.

As of August 29 operators laid fiber optic lines about 340 km long to 30 localities of 6 areas of the republic: Sergokalinsky, Khasavyurt, Hunzakhsky, Nogai, Kizilyurt and Kizlyar. In connection with specifics of a landscape in mountain Dagestan specialists of the company did not stack optical fiber in soil, and fixed air suspension on transmission lines.

In total within UTsN mounters of Rostelecom should cover modern digital trunking of 309 localities of Dagestan among which there are kutana and farms. Residents of villages will get access to a wireless internet to speed not less than 10 Mbit/sec. In total until the end of the current year Rostelecom is going to connect 60 more localities of the region.

In our mountains the network of high-speed communication which solves a number of problems is created. First, it much more facilitates life of villagers. There is an accessibility to the portal of state services, transfers and obtaining information, documents that is especially relevant for the remote villages during the autumn and winter period. And for school students prospects in respect of education are offered.
