2020: Testing of functionality of technology 5G
On November 24, 2020 Nokia reported that together with Scientific Research Institute Radio in pursuance of the solution of State Radio Frequency Commission hold testing of functionality of technology 5G with support of commercially available mode of dynamic separation of a range.
At the available frequencies selected with PJSC MegaFon for use of technologies 3G and 4G work of a complete technology circuit of a 5G with support of the mode of dynamic separation of a range was tested (Dynamic Spectrum Sharing, DSS). During testing were checked functionality of dynamic separation of a range and measurements of spectral characteristics of a signal combined bearing 4G and 5G are taken.
The mode of dynamic separation of a range between technologies 4G and 5G helps to perform smooth migration to technologies 5G in process of filling of network by subscribers with the smartphones supporting this standard of communication. Besides, such approach allows to increase efficiency of use of the frequency resource which is available for the telecom operator. Spectral characteristics of a signal to the combined bearing conform to the requirements which are initially shown to similar system performance 4G. Thus, the DSS technology does not influence conditions of electromagnetic compatibility with other communication systems and simplifies start of services 5G in the radio frequency spectrum which is already selected to mobile operators.
Infrastructure for tests was constructed on the equipment of Nokia including the base stations of the last generation of AirScale Nokia which are already set on PJSC MegaFon network. For testing the solution Dynamic Spectrum Sharing Nokia allowing to provide soft junction to a 5G and provided in the form of program updating for base stations of AirScale Nokia was used. Program updating of DSS Nokia will be available also to the previous line of radio modules – Flexi MultiRadio. This solution allows operators to upgrade the existing LTE networks and to prepare their transition to a 5G as fast as possible and effectively.
Development of infrastructure of communication networks is impossible without global technology changes therefore it is necessary to put in projects specific solutions which will allow to combine the existing infrastructure with the opportunities opening due to implementation of communication systems of fifth generation. Development of offers on implementation of the principle of technology neutrality of use of a radio frequency spectrum the systems of mobile communication of 4G networks/5G – just one of steps in this direction. According to the decision of SCRF of March 17, 2020 No. 20-54-03-1, Federal State Unitary Enterprise NIIR studying of a possibility of use of technology of dynamic simultaneous use of different interfaces using radio-electronic means of the LTE standards and a 5G/IMT-2020 in the frequency ranges of 2600 MHz and 2100 MHz in the territory of Moscow and St. Petersburg is entrusted. For November, 2020 laboratory tests for the range of 2100 MHz are complete. Results of the conducted researches will be considered during creation of the regulatory framework creating terms of use of the principle of technology neutrality in commercial communication networks that in turn will open opportunities for rapid implementation of networks of fifth generation in the territory of the Russian Federation. |

2019: Check of readiness of network and device 5G
On August 30, 2019 Megafon reported that it with assistance of Qualcomm Technologies and Nokia tested readiness of IT infrastructure and the mobile device in anticipation of operational start of 5G networks in mm range.
Preliminary tests took place in the Federal research and development center of Megafon (St. Petersburg). In tests were used the mobile test device based on the mobile platform Qualcomm Snapdragon and the infrastructure equipment of Nokia company – the base station of AirScale Nokia and antenna systems of a 5G of Massive MIMO. The equipment was set up for work in n257 range with a carrier frequency of 26.700 GHz. Test results proved that the integrated technologies allow to provide the speed of mobile Internet connection higher than 5 Gbps.
MegaFon is going to use such configuration of the equipment for deployment of the first segment of pilot 5G network in Moscow this fall. The initial pilot segment will open the road of fast approbation of services and terminals 5G in 2019 with a possibility of implementation of technologies 5G in 2020. 5G network considerably will improve capacity in the loaded points at the same time providing to the user and to services of advantage of multi gigabit speeds and an ultralow delay.
