2019: Announcement of the wireless explosion-proof beacon of iBeacon

On September 9, 2019 the SIBUR company reported that it completed development of the wireless explosion-proof beacon of iBeacon which is one of the devices forming network of Internet of Things at the enterprises of the company. The beacon will provide positioning of personnel in premises and installations where there is no covering of GPS. It will allow to know precisely location of the employee on production, including to quickly take measures at emergency situations.

iBeacon

According to the company, smartphones or wearable devices Bluetooth-enabled of LE, for example, helmets, bracelets, overalls can scan a signal of radio beacons. In case of an emergency situation it will allow to transfer to the manager all necessary information: data on the employee, about an event, its location – for operational taking measures. Also the beacon will be used by the application for a mobile MRO (technology service and repair) and other digital products which need positioning of the device.

Beacons were created and made together with KODE company which is a developer of IoT-solutions and software for mobile applications, according to technical specifications of the SIBUR within development of the products IIoT and digitalization of processes.

Productions of the SIBUR are located in different geografiya, including in northern zones with severe climatic conditions. Radio beacons are placed on installations out of premises and should work correctly both at high, and at low temperatures. Also at the enterprises there are hazardous production facilities therefore construction of any equipment should meet performance standards. The radio beacon designed by technical specialists of the SIBUR already received the certificate of explosion protection for work in explosive environments at negative temperatures to – 56 degrees Celsius.

Technologies of Internet of Things serve for automation of noncritical processes on production, automation of collecting of different data and also for increased security on production. Quickly to react to different situations, it is necessary to know always where there are employees. The explosion-proof wireless beacons of iBeacon working at principles of the Bluetooth LE protocol were for this purpose developed. Construction and characteristics of this equipment allow to use it at all enterprises of the SIBUR.

For management of the beacon the special mobile application on the Android platform allowing to configure all settings of the equipment or to update the software is developed. A power supply provides to the device lithium - the thionyl-chloride battery which does not require replacement more than 5 years. Level of a charge is broadcast in mobile application.

Operation of specialized electronic devices on industrial facilities dictates a number of specific industrial requirements. It is resistance to extremely low temperatures, a high IP factor of a pylevlagozashchishchyonnost, long-term work from one battery power and also explosion-proof execution with certification on requirements of the Russian Federation. In the market there are no ready-made solutions which are completely meeting such requirements, having economically reasonable cost and made in the territory of Russia according to standards of explosion proofness. In the light of it the solution of the explosion-proof industrial beacon iBeacon developed by us with SIBUR company is unique.
