Implementation of QR code recognition module

On November 27, 2019, Smart Engines announced that Gazprombank had implemented an artificial intelligence-based solution for recognizing QR codes.

The updated version of Gazprombank's mobile application has a built-in QR code recognition module developed by Russian specialists in the field of creating artificial intelligence systems from Smart Engines. The introduced technology is used to accept payments using QR codes within the framework of the fast payment system of the Bank of Russia and pay receipts in the mobile application of Gazprombank - Telekard 2.0.

In order to recognize a QR code in a mobile application, the user just needs to show it to the phone camera or take a picture of it. Recognition is carried out in real time and takes 1-2 seconds. The process is safe from the point of view of working with data, since all calculations are performed on the user's device without transferring images for processing to external services.
