Resignation from the post of Deputy Chairman of Sberbank

In January 2017, Sberbank announced that since February 15, Vadim Kulik, who oversaw the Risks and Technologies blocks, has been resigning as deputy chairman of the board of Sberbank. Earlier, the Kommersant newspaper, citing its sources, wrote[2]that Kulik was removed from the curacy of the Risks direction, since German Gref, as a supporter of personnel rotation, decided to give more authority to the head of the Risks block, Alexander Vedyakhin, and remove him from Kulik's curacy. Vedyakhin began to report directly to German Gref.

In the technological block, for which Kulik was also responsible, he did not find worthy tasks. The interlocutor of Kommersant, familiar with the situation, noted that the Technology block is globally supervised by the first deputy chairman of the board of Sberbank Lev Khasis. Here there is a duplication of functions, which did not suit both. As a result, having lost the key direction for himself, Vadim Kulik decided to leave the bank.

Later, Sberbank said that Nikita Volkov, who had previously led the development and maintenance of banking information systems in the Technologies block, was appointed acting head of the Technology block instead of Vadim Kulik.

Lev Khasis told Kommersant that Vadim Kulik was leaving the post of deputy chairman of the board of Sberbank for personal reasons, but would continue to work in the Sberbank group in a different role. According to the newspaper's sources, he will go to work in a special company of the Sberbank group and will be engaged in building an ecosystem.

In addition, since February 2017, Sberbank Vice President Teymur Sternlib has been appointed Senior Vice President, Head of the Directorate for Digital Business Development. He replaced Mikhail Ehrenburg, who has been working at Sberbank since 2013. Ehrenburg left Sberbank.

According to Kommersant sources, Sberbank had a feeling that Lev Khasis promoted "his people" within the areas entrusted to him. So, for example, Teymur Sternlieb was deputy chief executive officer for business support of X5 Retail Group, which was headed by Lev Khasis for a long time before joining Sberbank.

The interlocutors of the publication call Gazprombank  the most logical choice for Kulik.

On the one hand, this is a quasi-state bank, which guarantees a certain stability, while Vadim is not used to working in government agencies. On the other hand, it was in Gazprombank that he was asked to solve the ambitious task of turning an extremely conservative corporate institute into a technological bank. This task is similar to those that Sberbank once set for it, although it is less global, "one of Kommersant's informants said.

The newspaper notes that Gazprombank for a long time refused to master new technologies. In May 2017, a credit institution created a digital company, which in the future should develop into a high-tech bank for small businesses and individuals.

According to Alexei Sizov, a partner of Odgers Berndtson recruiting company, with the arrival of Vadim Kulik, Gazprombank acquired the best expertise on the market to introduce current practices in risk management and a good understanding of processes in IT and operational blocks.

The new VTB strategy for 2019-2022 involves the construction of an operational-technological platform, and this is more than the introduction of information technologies, the TAdviser source explained the logic of the permutations. - To solve this problem, a person with deep knowledge of banking products and processes with experience of their digital transformation is needed.
