In November, 2019 Panasonic won the tender for delivery of the protected computers organized by the Swiss government. The cost of the contract which will be performed from 2019 to 2025 is 65 million Swiss francs (about $64 million).
Under the terms of the agreement, Panasonic will deliver to federal agencies of Switzerland the unnamed number of devices Toughbook, including traditional laptops, hybrid devices, tablets, handheld gadgets under management operating system Windows or Android. Besides, sets for equipment installation in cars, any accessories and professional services, including a five-year guarantee for the equipment enter perimeter of the transaction.
The key clients manager in division of Panasonic Mobile Solutions Business Patrick Muff reported that many protected structures of the company are specially developed for use in such areas as defense and security, and are applied by a large number of the organizations in Europe and worldwide.
Products which Panasonic will deliver to the Swiss government has degrees of protection according to the military MIL-STD-810G standard and classification of IP. It means that the device is maintained by falling, impact of blows, extreme temperatures, moisture and dust. Depending on requirements and the sphere of use products from three categories will be delivered: completely protected, semi-protected and protected for business objectives.
Besides, the equipment has modular construction, allowing to connect additional devices, like scanners of barcodes and RFID readers. Panasonic claims that computers and mobile devices of the company are expected those cases when from such equipment work 24/7 is required.[1]
