Datana completed trial operation of an intelligent system on Ashinskiy metallurgical works

2019: A pilot project on increase in efficiency of technology process of section of extra oven processing of steel

On December 4, 2019 LANIT reported that the Datana company which is its part completed a pilot project on Ashinskiy metallurgical works on increase in efficiency of technology process of section of extra oven processing of steel. The company carried out trial operation of the solution developed based on Datana Smart at the enterprise. It helps to cut a consumption of ferroalloys, to collect data in real time from the different systems and provides to operators recommendations about conducting technology process.

Ashinskiy metallurgical works produces about 650,000 tons of steel a year. For each brand the chemical composition which is reached at stages of smelting and extra oven processing of steel where there is an additive of ferroalloys and slag-forming materials is defined. Ferroalloys – some of the most expensive materials. Their cost is from 5 to 30% of material costs for steel production depending on the brand and technology process.

The solution not only allows to make exact calculation of amount of materials, but also helps with their choice, defining materials with the smallest total cost. At the same time a system provides observance of all technology conditions and physical and chemical parameters of end products.

Trial operation of the solution on Ashinskiy metallurgical works lasted 3 weeks. 33 swimming trunks of a steel grade of St3sp within which the solution issued about 100 recommendations were during this time carried out. Based on the carried-out trial operation it was succeeded to achieve decrease in a specific consumption of ferrosilicium and ferrosilikomarganets. Decrease in a specific consumption of ferroalloys for a steel grade of St3sp was 8%.

Positive results of a pilot project allowed to continue dialog with Ashinskiy metallurgical works about further cooperation not only in implementation of this solution, but also development of other projects.

It is the first project based on our solution, and we already achieved good results. The reached economy on ferroalloys for the customer will make tens of millions of rubles a year, and it only at one stage of steel-smelting repartition.
