Continent KAMAZ

2019: Presentation

In the middle of December, 2019 "KAMAZ" showed the page truck auto pilot. It received the name Continent and is constructed on the KAMAZ-54901 model of fifth generation. The president participated in the presentation of innovation Russia Vladimir Putin.

The shown tractor the tractor is equipped adaptive a cruise control, control systems of a band, automatic braking and the autoparking and also function of recognition of road signs and a possibility of the semiautonomous movement in a column.

Electronics in salon allows to estimate health of the driver, analyzing head provision, blinking frequency, focusing of a look and other indicators. At disturbing symptoms a system will give a signal that driving it is time for person to have a rest.

In a cabin five screens, two them which are necessary for broadcast of the image from rear-view cameras as there are no mirrors in the machine are installed. Mirrors replace cameras which screens are located in salon.

In  a cabin of the tractor there is only one place  — for  the driver therefore developers could equip it  with all necessary, having turned practically into   a mobile house. In salon there are integrated refrigerator, the microwave and the crock-pot, the wash basin, a mirror, the safe with the coded lock, a berth of the increased comfort. 

The semiautonomous tractor is set in motion by the hybrid power unit based on the diesel P6. Additional electric motors allow to cut fuel consumption up to 25 liters on 100 km.

Exact characteristics of a hybrid component at the time of the presentation are not called, but it is known that the electrified truck for 17% will be more economic than normal "KamAZ" and can pass several kilometers on net electric traction. 

Terms of the beginning of sales of Continent by December 18, 2019 are unknown.^[1]
