Kazakhtelecom: blockchain platform

2019: Announcement

In December, 2019 Kazakhtelecom provided own blockchain platform which will be offered clients in service quality. Such model is called BaaS (Blockchain as a Service).

The technology of the telecommunication company, largest in Kazakhstan, is based on the Hyperledger Fabric platform and allows to create and place corporate a blockchain system based on a distributed infrastructure of data centers Kazakhtelecom.

According to the head of service of innovations of JSC Kazakhtelecom Abylaya Dzhumageldinov, the new product will facilitate to state bodies and corporate clients implementation and operation a blockchain systems.

The operator calls the solution and notes the following its advantages:

• Guarantee of transparency of transactions: information on transactions and contracts is stored in open access, at the same time these data cannot be changed;

• High security of network: duplication of the ciphered linking of information will not allow the third parties to make any changes.

The blockchain platform has open source codes thanks to what clients can use it in the solutions and integrate into any software, Dzhumageldinov said.

Computing clusters of geographically distributed blockchain platform are located in four cities: Aktobe, Karaganda, Pavlodar and Shymkent.

Abylay Dzhumageldinov at the Blockchain Day conference in technopark of Astana Hub in December, 2019 noted that the blockchain platform of Kazakhtelecom is in commercial operation, however the operator does not attract clients as questions need to wait for the solution with the legislation.

Kazakhtelecom intends to use the blockchain platform also in own projects, including Big Data and Smart Sity.^[1]
