At the end of January, 2020 the All Nippon Airways (ANA) airline started the pilotless electric bus bringing passengers to the airplane at the international airport Haneda in Tokyo.
All Nippon Airways implemented this project with SB Drive, Advanced Smart Mobility and BYD companies. For the first time they announced cooperation for creation of the autonomous electrobus in February, 2018 then partners actively tested innovation.
The system of remote monitoring Dispatcher of SB Drive company is the cornerstone: the cameras mounted on the vehicle provide visual control of everything that occurs in and outside of the bus, and the system of geomonitoring transfers data on location and speed of movement. In general it allows to exercise remote control and observation of bus in real time.
In the course of project implementation Advanced Smart Mobility and BYD companies joined it. They ensured functioning of the autonomous bus which moves on route 1.9 km long along perimeter of a prohibited zone at the international airport Haneda. At first driving there is a driver, however his presence was caused only by security reasons. The main objective of tests was in checking how the vehicle copes with the imitated scenarios in actual practice without participation of the person. Testing successfully came to the end, and in January, 2020 self-propelled buses began to take passengers to an airplane ladder.
Completely autonomous electric bus will provide more convenient conditions of transit for our passengers and also will increase employee performance of the airport — the representative of ANA Shinzo Shimizu claims.[1] |
