2020: Announcement
On February 18, 2020 Jaguar Land Rover companies provided the first unmanned vehicle and expects to begin its sales in a year.
The new machine which is referred to as as Project Vector is equipped with electric motors and rechargeable batteries which are located in a floor zone. Such construction, according to developers, opens ample opportunities for design of an interior. Seats it is also possible to locate somehow, and it is possible to remove at all that will allow to use the electric car for cargo delivery.
The producer claims that Project Vector can be executed in a body of both passenger, and cargo cars. Also innovation will be able to interact with other UAVs and road infrastructure.
In the version provided in February, 2020 the wheel and pedals are set. The company claims that the car will be able to go without participation of the driver and therefore these governing bodies can be deleted at the request of the customer. The cabin is transformed depending on a task: the shuttle can be adapted for private use or service of joint trips and also for courier services and delivery of "the last mile".
The electric car is developed together with division of NAIC (National Automotive Innovation Centre) of the Warwick university, and the contribution of Jaguar Land Rover company is more financial. The team of creators is headed by Tim Leverton who was before the chief engineer of Tata concern (it possesses Jaguar Land Rover), worked on the record JCB Dieselmax car and participated in creation of the Rolls-Royce Phantom sedan of last generation under patronage of BMW.
Jaguar Land Rover she intends to begin testing of the robomobile in Great Britain — in the city of Coventry in the east of the English county of West Midlands.[1]
