The USA signed the delivery contract of 8 thousand ventilators with four medical technical-companies

At the end of March, 2020 the Agency of defense logistics of the USA entering into the U.S. Department of Defense (Pentagon) signed the contract for the amount of $84.4 million with four medical companies for production of 8000 ventilators for fight against COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the agency, the contract is signed with the companies Combat Medical Systems Hamilton Medical, Vyaire Medical and Zoll Medical. Deliveries can begin in several days with a stage delivery within the next several months, representatives of the agency added. Many hospitals through the whole country already suffer a shortage of critically significant medical equipment, including ventilators so deliveries are going to begin immediately.

It is supposed that the companies will hold a stage delivery within several months. We expect that orders will begin to go during next few days, and by the beginning of May we will already receive 1400 ventilators — the official representative of the Ministry of Defence lieutenant colonel Mike Andrews in the press release told. — Delivery locations will be defined by Federal country government agency of the USA in crisis situations.

The department reported that it processed several hundred contracts and orders connected with COVID-19 which concerned everything — from transportation and maintenance of communication to goods of medical appointment. The contract management agency on defense implements mass modification about 1500 contracts to raise limits on progress payments to 90% for large enterprises and to 95% for small enterprises.

According to Andrews, it will provide an immediate cash inflow to the industry, especially to small enterprises in a supply chain which will be included in the contract. The agency of defense logistics of the USA also announced that it provides $2 million for purchase of pharmaceutical medicines and medicines, 975,000 gallons of fuel and food and also spare parts for two ships of hospital of Naval Forces.[1]
