At the end of April, 2020 Boston Dynamics announced that his four-footed Spot robot is already used in one of hospitals of Boston — Brigham And Women's Hospital — for the help at treatment of a coronavirus. The company is going to expand use of robots but time of a pandemic and also to provide open sources hardware and the software which she uses that other hospitals and producers of robots could follow its example.
The hospital uses the Spot robot for remote sorting of the patients suspected on existence of COVID-19. The robot is supplied with special fastening and the body for iPad or the screen of the similar size which can be used for video conferences between doctors and for communication with patients.
The robot is used as the mobile telemedicine platform, says the company. — We are glad that use of the Spot robot helped nursing personnel to reduce time of contact with potentially infectious patients. |
According to Boston Dynamics, in each change the Spot robot reduces the probability of contact with sick COVID-19, at least, for one medic. The company states that it is going to use more actively Spot robots in fight against COVID-19. Boston Dynamics already studies possibilities of remote control of the key vital indicators that robots could carry out such tasks as check of temperature and calculation of frequency of breath using the thermal imaging camera.
