2020: Carrying out medicobiological tests of an exoskeleton of ExoAtlant

On May 28, 2020 it became known that the Ekzoatlant company tested an industrial exoskeleton together with "Research institute of medicine of work of a name of the academician N.F. Izmerov". Results of a research showed security and efficiency of use of development in those production areas where the manual labor connected with a raising and deduction of weights is used.

ExoAtlant is the Russian industrial exoskeleton with officially confirmed efficiency allowing to lower load of a backbone during production operations, to avoid a travmatization of workers and to reduce invalidization percent.

Specialists in the field of clinical, sports, preventive medicine, engineering took part in medicobiological tests of an industrial exoskeleton of ExoAtlant. The experiment was performed within 6 weeks, 9 examinees, aged from 21 up to 44 years, tested functionality of ExoAtlant in the conditions of modeling of professional activity of the manual worker. Within the research the permanent assessment of dynamics of a status of a cardiorespiratory system and the musculoskeletal device of participants was carried out.

Results of laboratory researches showed that use of Ekzoatlant reduced the level of energy expenditure of a human body to 35%, and reduced load of the cardiovascular and respiratory systems. Reduction of heart rate to 15% and decrease in volume of the consumed oxygen to 23% is mentioned. Use of development removes stress from some skeletal muscles, reducing the discomfort and pain at the worker caused by physical activity. All volunteers working without exoskeleton showed complaints to pain and discomfort in a back on the first hour of work, at application of an exoskeleton only 4 of 9 examinees noted similar changes, but already on the 3 and 4 hour of work.

Our approach to a subject of industrial exoskeletons is based on the competences and experience received within the medical direction of "ExoAtlet" where we already proved the professionalism and the viability in the field of biomechanics. Accumulated skills and knowledge is also naturally applied by organic now in the field of industrial exoskeletons. We do not create cyborgs, we aim to protect workers from a travmatization, having in parallel increased their efficiency. In the matter medicobiological assessment of an exoskeleton is very important, and FGBNU of Scientific Research Institute MT is the leader in this direction therefore we are going to carry out similar tests for all our subsequent developments further,

The concept of development of Ekzoatlant company assumes a possibility of fast feedback from customers and direct users of an industrial exoskeleton for the purpose of its continual improvement. For the last year for this purpose the company organized a number of pilot projects together with the Russian Railway, in the next plans — carrying out similar activities not only in Russia, but also in South Korea where became interested in development in the largest conglomerate GS Group.

In the long term the Ekzoatlant company is going to expand products lineup: different modifications of an exoskeleton of ExoAtlant will allow to expand functionality and to make possible application of industrial exoskeletons not only for loading and unloading works and on logistic nodes, but also, for example, to implement an exoskeleton in processes of installation and construction works, in production workshops, on the pipeline and at office.

The market of use of industrial exoskeletons rather capacious also has the essential potential therefore at development of Ekzoatlant company good perspectives. Despite the difficult conditions caused by pandemic effects, ExoAtlet holding shows flexible approach and develops competitiveness, diversifying the product line in several directions at once. I hope that further testing of ExoAtlant, including directly on industrial enterprises, will allow to confirm demand and efficiency of development,

For June, 2020 ExoAtlant is in the final stage of development, actually is a finished product and expects a certification process. However in the market of Russia there is no regulatory base and a regulyatorika of implementation of industrial exoskeletons as individual protection equipment on production so far.

At the beginning of 2019 our command together with the Russian developers of exoskeletons initiated creation of the working group for discussion of the questions connected with industrial exoskeletons. Now according to the Order of Rosstandart No. 962 of 5/21/2020 at Technical committee "Individual protection equipment" (shopping mall 320) the subcommittee "Industrial exoskeletons" (PC 11) organized based on FGBNU of Scientific Research Institute MT got to work. The main objective of subcommittee is development of the normative and technical base regulating carrying out tests at development stages, creation and trial operation of samples. Medicobiological assessment of industrial exoskeletons at the same time will be able significantly to increase reliability and objectivity of researches. Implementation of industrial exoskeletons in production processes, finally, will have a positive impact on health of workers and will lower percent of occupational diseases on production,
