Irina Petina was born on August 31, 1972 in Ryazan. He has a medical, legal and economic education.

Biography

2011

In 2011, Irina Petina in the regional government took the post of Deputy Minister of Health. In the department, she oversaw public procurement and legal support, accounting and reporting, as well as the planning and financial department. Previously, she held various positions in the Ministry of Health of the Ryazan Region.

2020: Senator appointment

On June 18, 2020,  Irina Petina, Deputy Minister of Health of the Ryazan Region, became a senator of the Federation Council. The corresponding powers were given to her by the governor of the region Nikolai Lyubimov.

According to Kommersant, the senator's place has been free since May 2020, when the former governor of the Ryazan region Oleg Kovalev died. Petina was not in the top three candidates for senators proposed by Nikolai Lyubimov before the 2017 gubernatorial elections. In addition to Kovalev, they included former senator Igor Morozov and deputy of the Ryazan Regional Duma, President of the Regional Chamber of Commerce and Industry Tatyana Guseva. Morozov was subsequently appointed senator from the Ryazan Regional Duma.

According to the governor of the Ryazan region Nikolai Lyubimov, Petina worked almost all her life in the field of health care. She has legal knowledge, knowledge of the budget system.

2023: Arrest in the case of bribes in the supply of medical equipment

On July 11, 2023, the Sovetsky District Court of Ryazan arrested ex-senator from the Ryazan Region, former Deputy Minister of Health of the region Irina Petina. She was sent to a pre-trial detention center until September 9, 2023 inclusive on charges of receiving a bribe on an especially large scale (part 6 of article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). She is also a defendant in a criminal case on the purchase of medical equipment for medical institutions in the Ryazan region. Officially, the circumstances of the case and the estimated amount of the bribe received by July 18, 2023 were not disclosed.

In addition to Irina Petina, according to Novaya Gazeta-Ryazan, the former vice-governor of the Ryazan region Igor Grekov was also detained - he held this post in 2017-2021. The publication reports that both detentions are related to the investigation in the region of a criminal case on the purchase of medical equipment.

Grekov served as vice-governor from 2017 to 2021. He, as Novye Izvestia writes, hid information about his past criminal record. In 2020, on a direct line with Vladimir Putin, a Ryazan journalist asked to award Grekov the title of Hero of Russia, claiming that he saved seven people during a fire. However, later it became known that he was simply near the place of fire.

As RIA MediaRyazan reported on July 17, 2023, citing the press service of the Ryazan Regional Court, Irina Petina appealed her arrest. The consideration of Irina Petina's complaint against the decision of the Soviet District Court of the city of Ryazan on the election of a preventive measure in the form of detention will be held on July 19, 2023.

Irina Petina has been Deputy Minister of Health of the Ryazan Region since 2011. Later she became a senator from the region, in 2022 the powers ceased, they did not renew them.[3]
