History

2023: Name change to "Tibio"

The division of the German coffee brand Tchibo GmbH "Chibo CIS," which left the local top management, changed its name to Tibio. This was reported in a letter that the company sent to retail chains in early November 2023.

2022

Sale of business in Russia to local management

In August 2022, against the background of sanctions imposed by the EU after the start of Russia's special operation in Ukraine, the company decided to transfer business in the Russian Federation to local management.

In particular, the company of the general director of the Russian division Mikhail Kovalevsky MVK became the owner of Chibo CIS, its share is pledged by Tchibo, follows from the extract of the Unified State Register of Legal Entities.

Chibo CIS retained the rights to use coffee brands until the end of 2022, then the supply of coffee should be continued under a different brand. One of the options is Gold, an unnamed interlocutor told the Kommersant newspaper.

Chibo CIS produced coffee at the Grand-NN plant in the Nizhny Novgorod region and partially imported products from foreign sites.^[1]

Stopping the supply of coffee to Russia

At the end of February 2022, Tchibo stopped supplying coffee to Russia, and also stopped all marketing activities on the Russian market in connection with the special operation of Russia in Ukraine.
