2020: PTV Vissim implementation
On October 9, 2020 the SIMETRA company, competence center in the field of modeling of traffic flows and transport planning, reported that it developed recommendations about optimization of traffic conditions on one of the most problem sections of a street road network of Kaluga, near Blue Bridges.
According to the company, the project implemented using software tools of transport modeling will allow to optimize a transport situation in the area, to reduce time of journey and to provide unceasing traffic in the main directions. According to forecasts, in a project deliverable average speed on section can increase twice (from 16.6 to 34.5 km/h), and average delay of drivers on section will be reduced by 3.5 times (from 167 to 48 seconds).
Specialists of SIMETRA executed natural researches of traffic flows. On the basis of the analysis the mathematical model of the movement of vehicles was developed. Experts offered three options of reconstruction of a street road network and also the program of coordinate adaptive control by traffic light objects: the operation mode of traffic lights will change depending on time of day and loading of roads. It will allow to organize "green channels" to pass as much as possible vehicles for unit of time.
Results of researches of transport engineers will allow to develop for October, 2020 the qualified technical specifications on design and reconstruction of a street road network throughout about 6 kilometers. Certainly, roads not only near Blue Bridges, but also adjacent to them will be involved: without reconstruction other intersections of result will not be. Dmitry Denisov who is temporarily performing powers of the mayor of Kaluga told |
Specialists of SIMETRA offered actions which will form the basis of technical specifications on development of the design estimates on expansion of city streets and creation of additional bands.
The carried-out works will help to change a situation in one of problem places of the city where inhabitants get stuck nearly an every day in traffic jams. Within the project we also developed the concept of the automated control system for traffic which can become afterwards a basis of an intelligent transport system of Kaluga. Christian Byottger, the development director of SIMETRA company noted |
The project is implemented using the PTV Vissim 2020 software package intended for simulation modeling of traffic, creation micro and mesomodels of movement of individual and public transport in the cities.
