Opening of OCP Center of Expertise

In Moscow, on the basis of the updated OCP laboratory of GAGAR > N, the Center for Expertise was opened, which received the official status of OCP Experience Center. The company announced this on November 14, 2022. The main task of the Center is to popularize the Open Compute Project concept in Russia and the CIS. At the OCP Experience Center, Russian companies can get acquainted with the advantages of the approach and ready-made architectural solutions.

The Open Compute Project (OCP) community brings together manufacturers and consumers of data center hardware and software from around the world. OCP team members are working together on open, replicated solutions designed to improve data center efficiency, simplify hardware operations, and reduce total cost of ownership.

GAGAR > N is a member of the OCP community, independently develops and manufactures products based on OCP standards and architectures. In 2019, to popularize OCP solutions, the company opened the OCP Lab in Russia, which allows you to demonstrate and test server equipment and system software.

After a significant modernization of the laboratory, GAGAR > N opened on its basis the Center for Expertise - one of six in the EMEA region. The center received official OCP Experience Center status from the OCP community.

The Center of Expertise allows in practice to get acquainted with the OCP approach, as well as the GAGAR > N hardware and software, to assess its advantages and applicability for solving specific business problems. The specialists of the Center will help to select the optimal architectural solution and test it as part of functional and load testing. Moreover, this can be done both at the OCP Experience Center and at the customer's site. The process is accompanied at all stages by GAGAR > N engineers and architects.

The OCP approach has proven its validity and relevance for building efficient data centers around the world. We see an explosive increase in interest in OCP from Russian customers. Opening the OCP Experience Lab

On December 14, 2020, it became known that Gagar.IN, a Russian developer and manufacturer of server equipment, opened OCP Experience Lab in Russia. In a laboratory located in the center of Moscow, you can familiarize yourself with the server equipment of the Open Compute Project (OCP) standard from both Gagar.IN and from the world's largest manufacturers: Wiwynn, Rittal, Mitac, Bel Power, Murata, Mellanox, etc. According to the IDC forecast, the popularity of OCP equipment in the world is growing - the annual increase in the segment of such servers in the next four years will be 16.6% per year. This significantly exceeds the declared growth rate of the global computing equipment market - by 4.9%. In Russia, OCP is already used in data centers of such large companies as Yandex and Russian Railways.

Projects to introduce server systems into corporate data centers are measured in billions of rubles. The return time for such investments is up to 5 years, and errors in the choice of equipment or software can cost up to 35% of the initial investment. To optimize costs and speed up the launch of solutions, Gagar.IN has opened its own equipment testing center. Now Russian companies can familiarize themselves with the operation of servers with an open architecture according to OCP specifications, test their performance, as well as assemble stands for testing complex hardware and software solutions.

Working in the OCP Experience Lab will allow:

• Reduce the cost of buying unnecessary components - before the start of the project, study the products of Gagar.IN and other manufacturers. Among them are computing servers, disk arrays for building storage systems, switches and racks.
• To make the complex more efficient and suitable for tasks - to conduct comparative testing of equipment with a targeted set of system and productive software.
• Reduce solution startup time and eliminate software deployment errors - build a data center pilot and work out the deployment procedure with hard & soft vendors.

All available equipment and, software assembled in the test center "Gagar.IN," is connected to a single monitoring system. Specialists of laboratory residents will be able to observe the work of the stand, launch and participate in tests both from the workplace in the OCP Experience Lab, and through remote access by. We made a laboratory similar to the European OCP Experience Center, taking into account the needs of our customers. This is a location in the center of Moscow, a large selection of test equipment and support for experienced system engineers.
