2020: Opening of cash desks of self-service
Dekatlon started cash desks of self-service in the Russian shops. On October 30, 2020 the CSI company reported about it.
The first island of self-service opened in shop to Altufyevo. An opportunity to make an independent purchase is already selected by 40% of his buyers. Transfer of six cash desks of a classical line in a format of self-service reduced queues in rush hours and unloaded the employees for work in the hall. Safety of process is maintained by RFID technologies which are used by the retailer.
The French network actively upgrades IT infrastructure of the Russian shops. In 2019 the Russian Set Retail system which became the platform for implementation of plans for implementation of technologies – cash desks of self-service (SCO), mobile cash desks, independent scanning of self-shopping came to replacement to the European cash system to Dekatlon.
At design of the first island of SCO to Altufyevo of Dekatlon relied on the recommendations of the CSI command and its experience of installation of the systems of self-service. Specialists jointly selected the optimal arrangement allowing to differentiate two flows of buyers – queue on cash desks, and those who are ready to make a purchase independently. All project from design and before start of cash desks occupied 32 working days.
In the solution of self-service the same components, as well as on the classical cash register line are used that allows to convert classical cash desks in KSO. The cash desk has deepening - "box" with the RFID reader and also the hand scanner – they can scan a goods barcode without RFID tag (it ~ 4% of all range) or, marking from footwear which will be asked cash by software. For the Set SCO system which supports work of cash desks on the island it is the first project with RFID technologies – the interface was finished by the necessary schemes and illustrations in corporate Dekatlon style, integration with the systems of reading of RFID tags at gate is configured.
On the island one assistant in the working days suffices, two during week-end work. Time of other employees was released for consultations and the calculation of goods in the hall. Also allows to disturb less personnel to buyers for the first time the feature added in Set SCO to independently cancel goods in the check.
The second island of self-service from 3 cash desks is located in Dekatlon shop Balashikha which opened on October 3, 2020. Further circulation of the solution in shops of network is planned.

The reality changes – we see, various formats of interaction with shops are how demanded at the Russian buyers and methods to make purchase. Dekatlon always keeps up to date, providing the maximum comfort in the course of purchase – whether it be offline or online. The first cash desks of self-service of Dekatlon – strategically important step and experience in general for our segment. Without additional costs on the equipment we received obvious pluses from use of cash desks in a new format. Purchase became simple and fast, and resources of employees are directed to increase in level of service in shop. With expert support of CSI we will scale this experience, to implement other practicians and technologies on the basis of Set Retail in our network. |
