2020: Start of testing of the pilotless vessel
In the middle of November, 2020 Rosmorport announced the beginning of testing of the pilotless vessel. It is about a sludge removal barge under the name "Worker" on which the special managing equipment is installed.
Passes test in the Kerch Strait around Caucasus port under the general management of the working group of the industry center "Marinette". The distance from the area of dredging works to a sea dump makes about 30 km. This distance is also going to be passed to a barge in the modes of remote or automatic control.
Within a pilot project the following works are performed:
- check of capability of the installed equipment to receive and broadcast information on a surrounding situation and parameters of the vessel;
- check of interaction between the equipment installed on Worker and the remote control of management, mounted on the Redoubt dredge;
- check of accomplishment of the put algorithms of remote and automatic control;
- working off under observation of crew of the mode of automatic and remote control of the vessel on the basis of the approved scenarios.
It is expected that further one crew on the head vessel will be able to conduct at the same time control of all vessels of a caravan at once. It will allow to optimize personnel number in courts and to improve coordination of their work.
Use of the hi-tech equipment, new conditions of accomplishment of tasks in the sea will demand carrying out additional training of crews of vessel and will promote increase in attractiveness of a profession of the seaman, consider in Rosmorport.
The enterprise also considers the possibility of use of remote pilot wiring, use of autonomous working boats and implementation of other modern technologies. So, for example, Rosmorport it is interested in continuation of testing of the unmanned aerial vehicles capable to conduct investigation in difficult sea conditions.[1]
