2020: Start of a marketplace selling buses in Russia

On November 23, 2020 Nokian Tyres company, the player of the tire market of Russia, announced start of own marketplace selling buses in Russia marketplace.nokiantyres.ru. EPAM Systems, world service provider on development of digital platforms and the software became the partner of the company in project implementation. Now consumers had a possibility of purchase of buses in the wide list of retail outlets directly on the website of the producer with instant execution, fast processing of the order and the round-the-clock support from contact center. A marketplace is integrated with information systems of partners of Nokian Tyres and provides up-to-date information about the prices and existence of products in the tire centers and in warehouses of partners. In 2020 the marketplace was started for consumers in Moscow and St. Petersburg.

With development of practice of online sales in Russia more and more consumers prefer to buy buses on the Internet. In 2019 the strategy of Nokian Tyres in electronic trading was updated, the company made the decision to open a monobranded marketplace, having given to consumers an opportunity to quicker complete selection process and acquisitions of buses. On a marketplace of marketplace.nokiantyres.ru the opportunity is given to the consumer to see in one place of all official partners, existence of buses in outlets in the city, the prices, the operating actions. Also at the order of buses it is possible to register in mounting services at once.

The Nokian Tyres company addressed EPAM for services of consulting and then, having estimated qualification of specialists, ability to work in a command and quality of the provided company services, selected it for project implementation. The task to create the convenient solution in use and to develop design of a marketplace was set for EPAM.

The term of start of a system was strictly recorded and was defined by the beginning of a high winter season of sales: development of a marketplace lasted from March to August, 2020. The solution was implemented on SAP Commerce Cloud and integrated with the global Nokian Tyres systems for obtaining information on products, about partners and clients of the company. For fall forward of development and testing specialists of EPAM also constructed CI/CD processes using a framework of own development of Spark.

With start of a marketplace the Nokian Tyres company had an opportunity to continue to work directly with consumers not only buses of bonus lines (the summer buses Nokian Hakka and the winter buses Nokian Hakkapeliitta), but also a srednetsenovy line of Nokian Nordman. Also the marketplace plays an important role in development of sales, providing the created orders for products to partners of Nokian Tyres. For partners two methods of connection to a marketplace – integration and "classical" are implemented.

Integration allows to receive and process orders for the buses Nokian Tyres in the accounting system of a retail outlet that gives the chance significantly to save resources of partners.

The "classical" option of connection means work of personnel of the partner in a personal account of a marketplace for work with order statuses. In both options regular automatic information transfer about existence and cost of buses in each tire center of the partner is configured.

The implemented solution was designed and constructed taking into account an opportunity its idle time and fast adaptation under requirements of the different markets and supports localization on other languages. After start in Russia expansion of a marketplace and is planned further for other markets of Nokian Tyres concern.
