2020: Private LTE Dedicated Wireless Network Testing

On November 24, 2020, it became known that in, and (the structural Fuel Company Rosatom "TVEL" Greenatom (Rosatom IT Integrator) Beeline Business unit of PJSC "") VimpelCom tested the Private (LTE pLTE) dedicated wireless network "Machine-Building Plant" (PJSC "MSZ," enterprise of the Fuel Company "Rosatom" TVEL "). became one of the first Russia industrial atomic in the industry to deploy a wireless technology network within the pilot site.

As explained, testing was carried out in order to confirm the possibility of creating a single environment for the operation of various digital services used and planned for implementation in the nuclear industry using LTE wireless data transmission technology: industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), automated control systems, mobile maintenance and repair, PTT subscriber terminals (voice communication standard with a two-way air interface and the ability to transmit a signal simultaneously in only one direction), as well as IT platforms: intelligent video surveillance, remote piloting systems, robotization and others.

One of the main advantages of a closed dedicated network for the nuclear industry is the ability to ensure data transfer taking into account information security requirements: locally, within the enterprise and without using public networks. The pilot zone launched in a short time showed the technological readiness of the solution and provided several digital services with stable communication, the introduction of which is relevant for the enterprise in November 2020. The test results confirmed the capabilities of the selected technology, the implementation of which will optimize the speed of implementation of digital projects and the cost of operating the data transmission infrastructure.

It is expected that the development of this project will allow the integration of current systems and the elements of IIoT created within the closed circuit of the industry ecosystem. A 24-hour network to optimize labor efficiency and safety will become the foundation for building the 4.0 Industry, introducing predictive analytics and artificial intelligence platforms.

The use of a wireless network will provide flexible communication for employees in complex production cycles from a particular enterprise to a division level, will achieve standardization of approaches to the introduction of digital services and will move from a niche transport model to a universal technology of safe data transfer.

A centralized approach to creating a secure dedicated network based on an industry solution will allow, on the one hand, to reduce the total cost across the industry, and on the other hand, to create a trusted solution taking into account all requirements, including information security, allowed for use on the territory of our enterprises.

Even simple functional tasks are much more complex than at other facilities. And if we are talking about building a wireless network with a whole set of user options, then this is a project of a certain complexity, which needs to be tested in compliance with all security requirements.
