2020: SAP implementation of S/4HANA

On November 26, 2020 it became known that the retail chain stores of MOLL LLC passed to a system on enterprise management of SAP S/4HANA. Creation of a single digital platform for support of growth planned by the company and expansions of presence in the Ural market was a key project objective.

As it was explained, the project was implemented in only 10 months, and feature was the fact that its most part fell on the pandemic period. The NOVARDIS company which also implemented the set-up industry solution of NOVARDIS Retail in MOLL acted as the partner. The combined team consisting of employees of the client and the partner's consultants implemented the main and most difficult stages in the remote mode.

The retail network includes more than 70 shops of different formats: hypermarkets, supermarkets, shops in a format "at the house". The previous solution which was used by the company limited opportunities for further development: did not allow to optimize business processes and to make changes to them, to work with the franchisee, there was no up-to-date information. With implementation of this system MOLL company received a single scalable platform which changes and grows together with business. For November, 2020 in the SAP solution S/4HANA management of the following of business processes as at the level of office, and shops is implemented: merchandising, assortment management and pricing, own production and cookery, purchases and logistics, management of cost of sales and transactions, are organized processing and storage of cash vouchers together with the corporate data warehouse and operational analytics of sales. That allowed business users of the ERP system to receive quickly relevant, information in real time from unified information environment. And also reduced runtime of daily tasks and allowed to bring to the following level quality of work of all employees in general.

Further MOLL is going to develop work with the franchisee, e-commerce the direction, to increase the number of cash desks of self-service. This digital platform will allow the company to start necessary processes and to continue to increase the presence in the region.

Before project implementation the MOLL LLC company used the outdated customized solution which owing to technical features did not allow to increase the volume of the database and as a result any more: open shops, expand the range, use operational analytics. As updating of a system was technically impossible, we made the decision to analyze the market of ERP systems and to select the modern platform. The company held a competition during which the SAP S/4HANA platform and industry solution of NOVARDIS Retail was selected. To such large food retailer as "MALL" the solution allowed to ensure smooth operation of shops, information transparency and efficiency of business operations.
