The international service provider Orange Business Services on June 23, 2021 announced the modernization of the network in Russia both at the backbone level and on urban networks. At the beginning of 2021, the company already organized points of presence (PoP) in Moscow and St. Petersburg, connecting the Russian segment to the Tier 1 Open Transit Internet (OTI) global network. The plans include the organization of PoP in other regions of the country.

As of June, the process of expanding the Orange Business Services OTI network around the world is underway, and the Russian Federation is one of the key markets for the company, Orange representatives emphasized. Russian POP connects to the protected IP transit network OTI/AS5511, which connects more than a hundred POP Orange Business Services in Europe, Asia, Africa, North and South America. The organization of the Tier class network in Russia allowed to expand the range of offers for content providers, fixed, mobile and satellite operators.

Also, Orange Business Services in 2020 completed the first stage of upgrading the metro network (city-wide transport network) in Moscow, transferring trunk channels or their connections from 10 Gbit/s to 100 Gbit/s. In 2021, plans include an upgrade of networks in St. Petersburg, Samara, Rostov and a further increase in channel capacity at six more Moscow nodes.
