2021: Start of construction of site IXcellerate Moscow South

IXcellerate, the operator of a network of commercial data centers in Russia, on February 16, 2021 announced that it had begun to develop a site in the south of Moscow with a total area of 14 hectares. The southern campus - IXcellerate Moscow South - will unite several data centers and, according to company estimates, will become the largest in Europe. Its power capacity will be more than 200 MW, the design capacity - 20,000 seats. The first 1,200 racks are planned to be commissioned in the second half of 2021.

IXcellerate datacenters are designed to host high-load servers and infrastructure for ultra-dense calculations according to Tier III/Level 3 reliability level. During the construction, it is planned to use the best energy-efficient and engineering solutions, including green technologies. Customers of new data centers will be able to connect to any of the 54 carriers present at IXcellerate sites. The distance from the southern campus to MSK-IX - the largest Internet traffic exchange point in Eastern Europe - will be less than 9 km.

"Digitalization of the economy stimulates the growing need for reliable data storage and processing sites. In Russia, this trend is especially clear: it is set by the national program "Digital Economy," the country's intellectual potential, affordable electricity tariffs and the rapid expansion of hyper-clouds. We see a growing demand for our services from the business and are ready to satisfy it, "said Guy Wilner, co-founder and CEO of IXcellerate.

"The Russian capital occupies an increasingly significant place in the global storage industry. Moscow is one of the top 5 largest data center markets in Europe in terms of energy efficiency and is a key telecom hub on the way from Asia to Europe. By the end of 2021, the IT load of all Moscow commercial data centers will be about 260 MW. We are building a giant ecosystem that combines powerful infrastructure, neutrality, high customer orientation and the ability to scale indefinitely. It is designed to meet the growing demand for modern and energy-efficient solutions to support the development of the digital economy in Russia, "said Konstantin Borman, managing director of IXcellerate.

IXcellerate also plans to build new data centers on the territory of the first campus, located in the north of Moscow (Altufyevo). The third data center - IXcellerate Moscow Three - with a capacity of 2,000 seats will begin its work in early 2022. The total investment in the northern and southern campuses will be more than $500 million.
