11.4% acquisition by Berkshire Hathaway

The holding company Berkshire Hathaway, headed by investor Warren Buffett, announced the acquisition of an 11.4% stake in HP Inc., the total value of which at the rate before the purchase announcement was about $4.2 billion. This became known on April 7, 2022. After the announcement, the rate increased by almost 10%. HP became another technology sector company after Apple, Snowflake and Activision Blizzard, whose shares were also acquired by Berkshire Hathaway.

Buffett did not make major acquisitions for six years, as a result of which it accumulated $146.7 billion in cash and equivalents. But on March 21, she announced the purchase of the insurance company Alleghany, which will take $11.6 billion, and before that she published a message about her 14.6% stake in Occidental Petroleum, the value of which exceeds $6 billion.

Warren Buffett usually makes big investment decisions himself. On his initiative, Berkshire Hathaway acquired a stake in Apple, and now this company is one of the four companies whose shares make up the bulk of the holding's capital. In addition to Apple, the four include the Berkshire group of insurance companies, the BNSF railway company and the Berkshire Hathaway Energy energy holding company[1].
