Bromium - software developer for protection of computers against viruses. The company offers technology of virtualization which places harmful files and websites in a virtual container, protecting the device from infection. The startup is founded in 2011 by the former top managers of Citrix.

History

2019: HP Inc. purchased Bromium

On September 19, 2019 HP Inc. announced purchase of Bromium after more than two years of cooperation of the companies. Its participants did not begin to open financial and other terms of transaction.

Developments of Bromium are the cornerstone of function of HP Sure Click providing integrity of the BIOS code which is started at turning on of the computer and manages further loading of the operating system. The technology checks the code and if necessary can recover it in the automatic mode for a short time. It provides reduction of a downtime of the equipment, decrease in number of appeals to service centers and other pluses demanded in a segment of small and medium business where own highly skilled support service in the company seldom meets, says HP.

HP licenses Bromium technology for Sure Click since the beginning of 2017. In March of the 2019th partnership was expanded with start of the solution Sure Click Advanced which became available within HP DaaS services (lease of devices).

According to the CRN edition on September 19, 2019, in the last several years of HP actively implements solutions for security of the devices, including the PC and printers.

Acquisition of Bromium expands our investments, leadership and concentration in this area and also ensures safety of devices which are at a boundary of protection against cyber attacks, - the head of department of corporate systems in HP Andy Rhodes said.[1]
