2018: Red Hat purchased NooBaa
At the end of November, 2018 Red Hat announced NooBaa acquisition, but at the same time did not begin to call financial and other conditions of purchase. It is supposed that at the expense of this transaction the buyer will be able to strengthen the strategy in containerization.
As the vice president and the head of data storage and hyper convergent infrastructures in Red Hat of the Rank Rangachari (Ranga Rangachari) told in the blog, the company intends to use NooBaa technologies for inclusion of "a full range of services in the field of data" in the product portfolio connected with information storage including platforms Red Hat Ceph Storage and Red Hat OpenShift Container Storage.
We believe that the combination of fault tolerance of data and the improved ease of data migration between cloud suppliers will add Red Hat value regarding cross-platform portability of applications — Rangachari wrote. |
Integration of developments of NooBaa into the OpenShift Container Platform platform will allow developers to create more effectively focused on these applications and to use advantages of NooBaa services, ensuring at the same time full-time employment on various platforms.
However, unlike the products Red Hat the software of NooBaa has closed source code. Red Hat is going to correct it, but does not read specific plans and terms.[1]
