2021: Red Hat bought StackRox
In early January 2021, Red Hat announced the acquisition of StackRox. The company did not disclose the financial and other parameters of the transaction.
Red Hat expressed the hope that adding StackRox capabilities to the OpenShift will help businesses create, deploy, and protect open applications in hybrid cloud environments.
The press release provides the opinion of Gartner analysts that the use of containers to deploy ready-made applications "is still limited by security, monitoring, data management and networks."
Kubernetes workloads and infrastructure cannot be protected piecemeal. Security should be an integral part of every deployment, not secondary, says Red Hat CEO Paul Cormier, commenting on the takeover of StackRox. - Red Hat will add Kubernetes "built-in StackRox capabilities to a tiered approach to OpenShift security, building on our mission to deliver open innovation to every organization in an open hybrid cloud. |
The Red Hat message explains that the StackRox software provides control for all Kubernetes clusters by directly deploying components for enforcement and deep data collection in the Kubernetes cluster infrastructure, reducing the time and effort required to implement security mechanisms, and optimizing security analysis, investigation, and remediation.[1]
