2020: Confiscation of 4.5 million HP counterfeit printers and consumables from gray sellers

Law enforcement agencies in 2020 seized 4.5 million counterfeit printing equipment HP and consumables for it from gray sellers. Raids were carried out in countries, the Europe Middle East and (Africa region), EMEA the Asia-Pacific region, etc.

According to the manufacturer, operations to combat counterfeit products were carried out in the context of the coronavirus pandemic, COVID-19 which complicated the already difficult conditions for combating manufacturers of counterfeit printing consumables around the world.

Employees of HP Anti-Counterfeiting and Fraud (ACF), in collaboration with customers, partners, and law enforcement agencies, conducted over 1,700 Customer Supply Inspections (CDI) and Partner Protection Audits (CPPA) worldwide in 2020.

Police seized 4.5 million counterfeit printers and HP consumables from gray sellers

EMEA managed to confiscate 1 million illegally produced cartridges, identify and withdraw from the assortment of online stores more than 135 thousand offers of counterfeit products. The sale of 54 thousand counterfeit laser and jet cartridges in Nigeria was also prevented - which became the largest volume of confiscated products in the region in 2020.

HP noted that laser cartridges still occupy the largest share among fakes - they accounted for over 75% of the cost of products confiscated in fiscal year 2020.

Also, as part of online training, more than 6,700 partners and customers around the world received practical information on the fight against counterfeit products.
