History
2021: IBM bought BoxBoat
On July 8, 2021, IBM announced the purchase of BoxBoat at a price that the companies did not name. It is planned to complete all formalities related to the transaction by the end of September 2021.
Under the terms of the agreement, BoxBoat will join IBM Global Business Services and focus on developing hybrid cloud projects.
IBM plans to use container BoxBoat technologies to accelerate the spread of the Red Hat OpenShift platform, designed to create and launch container applications in the cloud. This platform is a key component of IBM's strategy, which was chosen by CEO Arvind Krishna. He estimated "the capabilities of hybrid clouds at $1 trillion."
It is expected that BoxBoat 's container expertise will contribute to the development of IBM OpenShift strategy, since complex corporate projects that use this platform often include consulting services.
IBM said it BoxBoat implemented projects for a large number of Fortune 100 companies and government agencies. BoxBoat works with major cloud providers including Amazon Web Services, Microsoft and Google.
