This acquisition supports efforts of IBM on assistance to clients in extraction of valuable knowledge from Big Data, in use of this knowledge for observance of regulatory requirements of regulating authorities and also in the automated removal of information in which storage there is no need.

By estimates of IBM, 2.5 quintillion bytes of data – very much are around the world generated every day that 90% of all data which are available for today in the world were created in the last two years. As a result, CIO and heads of legal departments of the companies are overloaded with information volumes that puts the essential pressure upon budgets of their services and capability to provide observance of regulatory requirements. Storage of outdated, unnecessary data increases costs for maintenance of IT infrastructure and negatively affects capability of the company effectively to provide observance of obligations in law.

Adding of StoredIQ technologies in a portfolio of offers of IBM for work with Big Data gives to the organizations tools for more effective management of huge information volumes, including timely removal of unnecessary data which consume resources of infrastructure and create additional risks. This expansion of a portfolio of IBM relies on the previous acquisitions of PSS Systems and Vivisimo companies and also on the solutions based on the free software optimizing work with data at the enterprises due to implementation of value-oriented methods of archiving and technologies of management of records, storage and electronic providing documents and also removal and administration of data.

The software of StoredIQ provides the scalable platform for static analysis and management of the diverse and distributed content of e-mail, the websites for file sharing, desktops and portals for joint work. Software gives the chance to quickly analyze large volumes of unstructured data and can be configured on automatic collecting of these data for electronic disclosure of information and also allows to delete files and e-mails according to regulatory requirements. As a result legal departments of the companies will be able to reduce risks thanks to more effective ensuring compliance with regulatory regulations, and IT services will be able to get rid of unnecessary data and excessive expenses.

"Most CIO and heads of legal departments of the companies understand that data are stored too much, and it leads to growth of IT costs and increases risk of violation of regulatory requirements — Deidre Paknad, the vice president for industry solutions (Industry Solutions) who is responsible for integration of StoredIQ into IBM emphasized. — Using IBM and StoredIQ of the organization will be able to receive the maximum return from Big Data and more effectively provide observance of the becoming complicated requirements of the legislation for protection and information management, at the same time getting rid of redundant information for cost control and risks".

CIO and heads of legal departments can avoid excessive data storage – and the accompanying growth of costs and risks – using effective automation of administration of data and management of corporate storage.

The StoredIQ company awarded with the analytical agency Gartner of an honorary title 2012 Cool Vendor ("the best supplier of year") services more than 120 clients worldwide, including global leaders from spheres of financial services and health care, manufacturing industries and public sector.
