Inductiv is the Canadian startup which is engaged in machine learning technologies. The company is founded by professors in the field of machine learning from Stanford University, the University of Waterloo and the University of Wisconsin in Madison.

History

2020: Apple purchased Inductiv

On May 28, 2020 it became known of purchase of the Canadian startup of Inductiv by Apple company. Engineers of a startup already joined Apple for participation in projects for development of Siri, development of machine learning technologies and intellectual data processing.

Terms of transaction are not disclosed. Apple confirmed the purchase fact, but responded to the request of journalists with the standard comment:

Apple purchased the developer of machine learning technologies for Siri improvement

On the account of Inductiv development of technology which using artificial intelligence automatically finds and corrects errors in data which lack is important for machine learning — like the artificial intelligence used for improvement of functions of the software with the minimum participation of the person.

One of founders of Inductive, professor from Stanford University Christopher Re also among creators of other startup in the field of artificial intelligence — Lattice Data. This company was also purchased by Apple — in 2017. Not clearly, whether he joined Apple and his colleagues, cofounders of Inductive, Theodoros Rekatsinas and Ikhab Ilyas.

For several years of Apple made several noticeable acquisitions including connected with artificial intelligence and other technologies. In May, 2020 it became known of acquisition of NextVR company with 10 years' experience of development of the broadcasting VR platform for show businesses and sport.

In 2016 Apple purchased Turi startup from Seattle for the purpose of creation of departments of development of machine learning and artificial intelligence. Then, in 2018, completed acquisition of a startup of Silk Labs developing technologies of data protection based on artificial intelligence.[1]
