Publishing and Printing Center SPbPU updated Xerox printing machines

2021: Installation of Xerox iGen 150 and Xerox Nuvera 144 EA

On March 18, 2021, Xerox announced that Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University (SPbPU) installed a full-color Xerox iGen 150 CPM in its printing house in complex with the Xerox Nuvera 144 EA monochrome system. The modernization of the park allowed to increase speed and improve the quality of production, offer customers other types of products and reduce the cost of imprint.

With the installed equipment, the speed of processing orders at the Publishing and Printing Center (CPI) SPbPU increased by 20%, and the production time began to be predicted with maximum accuracy. In particular, productivity increased due to the ability to start long printing cycles: in the Xerox iGen 150 CPM alone, the feed trays hold up to 10,000 sheets, and the finisher's receiving device - 3,000 sheets.

The printing house prints all small orders on the data of the CPM, including textbooks and monographs, leaflets and Eurobooks for the acceptance campaign, postcards and posters. Printing products are manufactured not only for SPbPU, but also for external customers. In particular, the CPI fulfilled third-party orders to print the magazines Problems Arctic and, and AntarcticGyroscopy navigation Hydroacoustics, books and collections of scientific works.

The ability to use sheets with a format of up to 364x660 mm (Xerox iGen 150) allowed the printing house to print books with a large cut format, and work with texture materials expanded the range of products. Machines provide stable color rendering and improved processing of halftones.

In 2004, we were one of the first among Russian universities to open our own digital printing center. And in 2008 established in it a complex of the full-color press on the basis of CPM Xerox iGen3, - Evgeny Alimov, the director of the Publishing and printing center of a SPbPU comments. - For many years CPI SPbPU remains one of the most modern digital university centers in Russia, providing printing products to the educational process of the university and fulfilling orders of third-party organizations. Equipping the printing equipment Xerox iGen 150 and Xerox Nuvera 144 EA will allow CPI SPbPU to maintain its position among university printing houses.
