2021: Plans to provide Wi-Fi and video surveillance in schools

As part of the creation of a single digital educational environment and the national program "Digital Economy of Russia," Rostelecom announced on March 26, 2021 that it would build digital infrastructure in schools. The project involves providing schools with wireless Internet access (Wi-Fi), video surveillance systems with analytics and image storage, as well as providing resources to data centers.

The pilot project will be implemented in the general education organizations in 16 territorial subjects of the Russian Federation: Altai and Perm regions, Astrakhan, Kaliningrad, Kaluga, Kemerovo, Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod, Novgorod, Novosibirsk, Omsk, Sakhalin, Tula, Tyumen and Chelyabinsk regions and also Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Area. In-school infrastructure for wireless Internet and digital services will appear in more than 8.5 thousand schools.

Depending on your organization, your digital infrastructure can be upgraded or created from scratch. Video surveillance systems will monitor the entrance to school buildings and analyze persons posing a threat to children, for example, those on the wanted list. The identification of children is not expected. Domestic equipment will be used to implement the project.

Creating digital infrastructure in schools is a responsible task for Rostelecom. As part of the federal contract, our company will provide Wi-Fi and smart video surveillance, which can be used not only in the educational process, but also for various projects conducted in schools. This is video surveillance of the exam and on a single day, votes the work of the digital educational environment and other tasks. Thus state , it will reduce the costs of creating temporary infrastructure for various activities, focusing on specific types of services. For example, within the Unified State Exam, this is the transfer of video traffic to the 'View.EXAM' resource, storage and processing in; during a data centers single voting day - transfer data situational center Central Electoral Commission to and storage in the data center. In accordance with Order of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 713-r dated March 22, 2021, Rostelecom was appointed the sole executor of work on the formation of sustainable ICT infrastructure in general education organizations. The state contract will be valid until December 31, 2022.
