2021: Going public
At the end of March 2021, the Internet marketing service Semrush, founded by Russians Oleg Shchegolev and Dmitry Melnikov, began trading on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). The company's stock trades under the ticker symbol SEMR.
As part of the IPO, Semrush offered 10 million Class A ordinary shares at a price of $14. On the first day of trading on March 25, 2021, quotes fell by more than 19%, to $11.22 apiece. Initially, the company planned to sell 16.8 million class A shares to investors at a price of $14 to $16 per share. Semrush raised $140 million excluding the option to the organizers of the offering, including Goldman Sachs, Jefferies, J.P. Morgan, KeyBanc Capital Markets. It was assumed that $235-268.8 million would be raised as part of the IPO.
As of the end of 2020, the company employed 980 employees, of which 640 are in Russia and 177 in the United States. Among Semrush's US customers are IT companies such as eBay, Deloitte, Amazon, Hewlett Packard, Forbes, etc.[2][3]
