2021: Results of automation of two warehouses in Tashkent

DP "Balton Trading (Asia)" was able to optimize resources and "painlessly" put into operation two automated warehouses. Axelot (Axelot) announced this on November 29, 2021.

The use of the "small to large" principle and the sequential launch of sites and storage areas allowed to free up resources to facilitate the further implementation of WMS. To confirm the significance of the results achieved, the management of DP "Balton Trading (Asia)" plans to conduct a post-project audit.

The storage areas owned by the company amount to more than 20,000 sq.m. as of November 2021, they are equipped in accordance with the requirements of storage of sold goods. The turnover reached 30 thousand tons per year (500 cars per year) and the logistics service confidently manages it, organizes storage and further transportation.

The management of DP "Balton Trading (Asia)" took the first steps to automate warehouse logistics in the fall of 2019, when it turned to AXELOT for services in the technological design of the warehouse. The ultimate goal of the audit was to prepare for the implementation of Axelot WMS X5. The collaboration was successful, and in the spring of 2020, a project began to automate warehouse management processes based on the AXELOT WMS X5 solution.

At the start of the project, fairly standard goals were defined: to increase the efficiency of shipments, reduce the influence of the human factor, and introduce shelf life control. But even then, the management of DP "Balton Trading (Asia)" understood that for further successful development it was important not only to implement the WMS system, but also to analyze the results that were achieved.

As part of the project, two warehouses were automated. Both are located in Tashkent, but are geographically distant from each other by about 10 kilometers. The implementation of the WMS system is implemented in a single loop at both sites. AXELOT WMS X5 has been consistently launched in order to optimize resource utilization and facilitate implementation.

The system was launched sequentially at each site, within each warehouse, sequential implementation was also organized by zones, based on the line of each brand represented.

This approach made it possible to painlessly go through all the processes and stages of implementing the WMS system first at low volumes, gradually connecting the remaining areas of the warehouse. It should also be noted that warehouse employees already working in AXELOT WMS X5 were actively involved in the start-up of the next warehouse area and supported those employees who had just started working in the system.

As of November 2021, the goals of the project have been achieved, the warehouses have reached full capacity, all areas of the warehouses have been established in a single circuit of the WMS system. Since the full launch, it has been possible to collect statistics on the development and speed of various operations. The management of DP "Balton Trading (Asia)" in the near future plans to conduct an audit "was/became" in order to assess the results and development prospects.

Post-project audit will not only provide an opportunity to see the impact of AXELOT WMS X5 implementation, but will also provide fertile ground for results analysis, identification of bottlenecks that need to be addressed, and possible growth points that are important for strategic decisions to improve warehouse performance.

During the project, the integration of CMS, AXELOT WMS X5 and AXELOT TMS X4 was implemented using the DATAREON ESB data service bus, which was implemented in parallel with another AXELOT project team.

2020

The active growth of the business prompted the company's management to rethink the approach to warehousing logistics. It was necessary to analyze the current state of affairs and develop options for the development of warehousing, taking into account forecasts for the growth of the assortment and subject to the use of new storage areas, which are planned to be launched. With such tasks, the management of DP "Balton Trading (Asia)" turned to Axelot.

The reason for choosing the performer was simple - Axelot specialists have extensive experience working with warehouses of various types, both as part of complex projects for optimizing and automating the warehouse, and as the implementation of independent logistics consulting projects.

Having started work on the project, Axelot specialists conducted a large-scale survey of all customer storage sites and business processes on them, a report was prepared on the result of the survey, as well as an analysis of identified errors in data on the nomenclature and statistics of its movements in the accounting system.

Based on the results of the work, the customer was provided with several possible concepts for the development of the warehouse, including not only rack and lifting and transportation equipment, but also process maps of warehouse processes, individually developed commodity flow algorithms, a detailed calculation of the need for UTP and personnel, compiled on the basis of the initial data and the expected prospects for expanding the assortment and storage areas.

Despite the fact that the implemented project belongs to the field of warehousing logistics, Axelot specialists, among other things, proposed an option for solving the problem of inventory management. The management of the company was offered the concept of controlled distribution of inventory between locations, preliminary calculations of the regularity of replenishment of various locations were compiled.

One of the proposed options for the development of the warehouse was adopted by the management of DP "Balton Trading (Asia)" for a more detailed study and subsequent implementation. Further plans of the company - automation of warehouse and transport logistics in order to increase the efficiency of warehousing and transportation.
