2021: Hitachi Vantara bought Io-Tahoe
At the end of June 2021, Hitachi Vantara announced the purchase of the American data management company Io-Tahoe. Financial details of the transaction are not disclosed. The capabilities of the Io-Tahoe platform will become part of the Hitachi Lumada DataOps portfolio.
Chief Product Officer and General Manager of Hitachi Vantara Radhika Krishnan noted that the Io-Tahoe solution will complement the existing capabilities of Hitachi Vantara and accelerate the development of the company's data management skills by three years.
In March 2020, Hitachi Vantara acquired Waterline Data, which is a competitor to Io-Tahoe. Talking about the coexistence of the two companies, Krishnan explained that the Waterline Data product is focused on data classification, while the Io-Tahoe platform focuses on a number of functional areas of data management. Krishnan believes that the solutions of the two acquired companies can coexist and even integrate.
I believe that Io-Tahoe's AI-based intellectual property, most of which is patented or under review, can be combined with what Waterline Data had, with great advantage. The only way enterprises can master and manage their data sets is to automate as much of their solutions as possible. The key to such automation is the intelligent application of artificial intelligence, and the combination of Hitachi Vantara's client base and Io-Tahoe technologies is great for this task.[1] |
