Lumada is the commercial platform for Internet of Things (IoT). Lumada Data Services (services of data Lumada) is a set of program services using which customers can manage harder and harder ecosystems data on intellectual information basis. Interaction with the checked technologies Hitachi for the organization object storages, data integration and analysts, the cornerstone of platforms Hitachi Content Platform (HCP), Pentaho and Lumada, allows customers to exercise with the minimum costs control all data sets in data processing center, in cloud and on border infrastructures. On September 17, 2019 the Hitachi Vantara company announced release of Lumada Manufacturing Insights. It is a solution package for industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) which help to optimize operation of the equipment and to improve production processes due to use of the artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML) and methodology of DataOps.
In Hitachi Vantara noted that the solution package supports integration with existing applications and generates analytical data on the basis of which it is possible to take specific actions. At the same time the customer has no need to completely change the expensive equipment or already working applications. Lumada Manufacturing Insights supports different options of deployment: it is possible to use a solution package both in internal infrastructure, and in a cloud environment.

On May 22, 2019 the Hitachi Vantara company provided Lumada Video Insights – a full range of intellectual and adaptable applications. Thanks to technologies of Internet of Things (IoT), video, the artificial intelligence (AI) the Lumada Video Insights complex allows to collect, to store, control and analyze video data.
According to the statement of the developer, Lumada Video Insights is an integral part of strategy of Hitachi Vantara in the field of DataOps (the methodology assuming joint work of development teams and the operation of IT systems, data preparation engineers and researchers of data) designed to define new approaches to data management during AI era.
Using Lumada Video Insights customers can collect and study data. On their basis it is possible to improve planning and to reveal the factors promoting increase in production efficiency and cost reduction claim in Hitachi Vantara.

On September 27, 2018 Hitachi Vantara presented solutions of the Lumada Maintenance Insights series which should fill up a line of solutions of Lumada. These solutions for the Internet of prophetic (IoT) developed on the basis of the artificial intelligence (AI) use high-precision predictive and directive algorithms which help customers to reveal potential failures in the equipment and make necessary recommendations about repair and service, allowing to increase efficiency of operation and to avoid idle times. Such improvements, according to developers, will allow the companies to improve results of business due to the most complete use of potential of data irrespective of their location – whether it be a data processing center, a cloud or terminal units – and to take higher positions in the modern market which is actively using digital technologies and solutions in the field of analytics of data.

Release of version 2.0
On September 19, 2017 Hitachi Ltd companies. and Hitachi Vantara was announced release of the first commercial Lumada platform for Internet of Things (IoT). Completely upgraded version of the Lumada v2.0 IoT-platform has simple, easily adaptable architecture which allows to develop the platform both on the customer's object, and in a cloud environment, supporting the systems of industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) and at the level of terminal units, and in a data processing center.
Changes of version 2.0
- The integrated means of expanded analytics of Lumada are complemented with functions artificial intelligence (AI).
- Thanks to it customers receive the intellectual and flexible platform capable to accelerate increase in operational efficiency, economy of costs, increase in security and reliability of functioning of systems, optimization of use of resources, increase in control of performance and product qualities.
- Avatars (digital representations) of resources — approach of Hitachi to views generation, known as "digital twins" of objects are added.
- Avatars of resources allow to gain the digital representation of terminal units and various metadata used for the purposes of analytics. Avatars serve kind of as digital intermediaries industrial and business resources, providing an opportunity to quickly take from data valuable knowledge concerning their operability and performance on the basis of constantly renewed indicators of sensors.

In general the architecture of the Lumada IoT-platform (version 2.0, September, 2017) includes five main levels creating the flexible, adaptable and arranged program basis:
- Lumada edge: Allows to accept easily, to transform and analyze the most various data arriving with any speed in directly at the level of terminal units.
- Lumada core: Provides creation of the register of devices, identification and access control and also simplifies creation of avatars of resources.
- Lumada analytics: Allows to combine data of the OT i IT systems and to reveal patterns using powerful tools of analytics, machine learning and artificial intelligence.
- Lumada studio: Contains the ready widgets allowing to simplify creating applications in the form of interactive panels; sends warnings and notifications or performs direct processing.
- Lumada foundry: Offers basic services for simplification of deployment on objects of customers and in a cloud environment and also provides functions of security, support and different microservices.
