2021: Replacement of obsolete equipment

On July 2, 2021, Open Technologies announced the completion of a project for Samaraenergo PJSC to create a system for switching and routing packets of the transport network for transmitting data from its branches.

The company of the Middle Volga region faced several problems at the same time: non-modern equipment, the need to unify the hardware series and standardize the design solutions used. Thus, the main tasks for Open Technologies within the framework of this project were the replacement of obsolete equipment, the transition communications algorithms to GOST channel protection and the organization of dynamic reservations communication channels using channels of various types (L2, VPN L3VPN,, Internet 3G/).4G

To organize communication between the facilities of the grid complex, the expert group of Open Technologies and PJSC Samaraenergo chose a solution, and Cisco SD-WAN to protect the communication channels - the equipment of the domestic manufacturer. " C-Terra The project included a full cycle of work: a survey of the existing network infrastructure, design, - stroitelno installation and commissioning, migration to the created one. IT Infrastructure The distinctive feature of the network deployed for Samaraenergo PJSC integration is between the communication channel protection system and GOST algorithms based on equipment S-Terra Gateway 100/1000/3000 and the solution based on Cisco SD-WAN. routers 1100 and 4300 Series ISR

First of all, SD-WAN is a different approach to building and managing distributed networks of any scale, which gives the customer the ability to manage the infrastructure as a service (IaaS) through a single management point. It allows you to make decisions by operating the network "from above" - without the need to spend time on "nuances." This reduces operating costs in general. A centralized approach to network management allows you to build any "logical" topologies (full-connected, partially connected, hub-and-spokes). Integration with third-party services is easier through a single management point. A single SD-WAN monitoring point reduces troubleshooting time. To ensure the quality of the network, communication channels are constantly monitored for delays and losses of transmitted data. Unlike "classic" distributed networks, SD-WAN-based solutions scale very well, and the zero trust approach allows the integration of only proven devices. Distributed topology security is achieved by using encryption between all devices in the network.

As a result, the system combined about 50 objects distributed throughout the Samara region. The implemented solution saves on the organization of backup communication channels due to the active use of 3G, 4G networks. This factor is particularly important in small and medium-sized localities, where the choice among fixed access operators is often limited. The capabilities of the SD-WAN solution in terms of simultaneously spreading standard settings to a large number of equipment save the time of Samaraenergo PJSC specialists. Increased throughput and lower costs enable you to leverage the capabilities of your IT platforms.

The specialists of "Open Technologies" company applied innovative technical solutions. Installation, commissioning and commissioning works were carried out in the difficult epidemiological environment of 2020 and the difficult technological conditions of the existing enterprise. A systematic approach at all stages made it possible to obtain optimal results of the work performed, "said R.L. Schumann, Deputy General Director for Technical Affairs and Information Technologies of PJSC Samaraenergo.
