2021: Network Infrastructure Replacement

On September 1, 2021, the system integrator IBS Platformix announced that he made a complete replacement network infrastructures Decathlon in based on Russia solutions, changing the Fortinet FortiGate architecture of the transmission system, and data also organized a fault-tolerant network hub that ensures network connectivity of all locations.

The modernization of the Decathlon network infrastructure was due to several prerequisites at once: it was necessary to create a reliable safe and communication channel with, the French data centers a significant increase in the fault tolerance of data transmission systems, as well as updating a significant part of the fleet of network equipment used.

To fulfill the tasks, it was decided to implement Three interrelated projects:

• Stage 1 "RUBICON" (RUssian Branch Inter CONnection) - replacing the infrastructure with an infrastructure based on Fortinet FortiGate solutions;
• Stage 2 "Nord Stream" (local name) - changing the architecture of the data transmission system, organizing dedicated communication channels to increase the fault tolerance of the international data transmission system;
• Stage 3 "RuHUB" is the organization of a fault-tolerant network hub that provides network connectivity for all locations.

As a result of the project, the customer received a fault-tolerant network core located in two geographically spaced data centers with connection to data centers in France using direct dedicated channels. Each data center has its own independent cluster FortiGate deployed. At all branch sites, edge network equipment was completely migrated to the Fortinet FortiGate platform with the organization of the Full-Mesh network topology using ADVPN (Auto Discovery VPN) technology. You have deployed and configured a centralized device management server FortiManager and an analytical system FortiAnalyzer. IBS Platformix engineers have developed network device configuration templates on the FortiManager, using which they managed to implement the concept of "Zero-Touch Provisioning (ZTP)," so that new branches can be deployed during a few minutes.
