2023: Second championship at Dota 2 International Computer Game Tournament

At the end of October 2023, the Russian esports team Team Spirit became the winner of the Dota 2 - The International 2023 World Championship. The tournament with a prize fund of $3.1 million was held in the American Seattle.

At the end of August 2023, the Federation of Computer Sports (FCS) of Russia reported that the International Federation of Computer Sports (CSF) allowed athletes from the Russian Federation to compete under the Russian flag. In addition, the congress rejected the proposal of the Ukrainian e-sports federation (UESF) to suspend the membership of the CSF of the Russian Federation in IESF.[1]

2021: Winning the Dota 2 International Computer Game Tournament

On October 17, 2021, the Russian esports team Team Spirit won the Dota 2 international computer game tournament. We are talking about the competition The International, which athletes from the Russian Federation won for the first time. The championship was held in Romania.

Another Russian team Virtus.Pro left the tournament after losing to Team Spirit in the fourth round of the lower bracket. Virtus.Pro received $1.4 million in prize money.

Former head of Virtus.Pro Anton Cherepennikov in his Twitter blog said that he put 1.5 million rubles on the victory of Team Spirit in the final of the tournament. He won 44 million rubles thanks to the bet.

Magomed Khalilov noted that he has everything so far, he does not know what to spend this money on. Miroslav Kolpakov also plans to acquire housing, as well as purchase a car for dad.

Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko congratulated Russian e-sportsmen on their victory. The success of our team helped draw attention to digital technologies, Chernyshenko added. According to him, the total prize fund of the competition of $40 million confirms that interest in e-sports is growing among sponsors and sports fans.[2]
