Domestic equipment was purchased at the initiative of the Ministry of Archives of the Penza Region, with the support of the Governor of the Penza Region.

The archive commented that documents of a genealogical nature will be digitized - revision tales (591 items of storage), as well as more than 4,000 noble cases - usually they contain documents on proof of the nobility, recognition and approval in the nobility of the clan as a whole, as well as the ranking of its individual representatives. After completing this work, the archive plans to begin digitizing metric books (more than 6,600 storage units).

The characteristics of ElarScan A2-450KS will allow you to digitize documents of archive funds over 600 pages thick without any problems, without the threat of source damage. The advantage of this model for working in the archival industry is autonomy, that is, digitization does not require a stationary computer and specialized software, - noted the specialists of the State Archive of the Penza Region State Budgetary Institution, - the scanner menu allows you to quickly select the digitization mode, and the book cradle makes it possible to scan dilapidated documents in a gentle mode.

The archive said that with the help of ElarSkan, it is planned for the first time to digitize the IV-X revisions (591 storage units), as well as metric books of churches in the Penza province until 1917 (6850 storage units). In the metric books, which are stored in the State Archive of the Penza Region State Budgetary Institution, there are records of the birth of prominent people born in Penza land. Among them are a record of the birth of A.I. Kuprin, V.O. Klyuchevsky, V.P. Stavsky and many others.

The installed domestic scanner is designed for careful contactless digitization of even dilapidated originals; with its help, archive employees will be able to create high-quality copies even for damaged pages and pages with fading text.

After the completion of the digitization process, all documents will be processed and placed in the public domain in the ELAR-Archive system, "said Maxim Aleksandrovich Buryakov, Chief Methodologist of the State Archives of the Penza Region. - Placing these documents in the public domain on the network will significantly relieve the work of the reading room of the archive, since most of its visitors are engaged in genealogical research. The state of preservation of these documents will also improve, since as of November 2021, with the current volume of their issuance, this issue raises great concerns. Some of the metrics and revisions were found to be in unsatisfactory condition and their issuance to researchers is limited. Digitizing documents solves many of the problems listed above.
