2021: Establishment of Design and Development Center in partnership with AFK Sistema

PJSC AFK Sistema and Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov (hereinafter - "Moscow State University") on December 1, 2021 announced cooperation on the creation of the Design and Development Center (hereinafter - "Center") in the field of electronic component base, hydrogen energy and space technology. Element Group, the majority shareholder of which is Sistema, will be a key partner in the development of microelectronics and photonics.

It is planned to create and jointly develop the Design and Development Center in such priority areas as microelectronics and photonics, high-purity materials, technological and instrumentation production equipment, as well as hydrogen energy, space technologies, specialized electronics-living systems interfaces. Specialists of the Element group of companies, which have high competencies in these areas, will actively form the scientific and technical agenda of the strategic development of the center.

The center will be located on the university campus in an administrative building owned by the AFK Sistema Group, where functional spaces and a comfortable environment for residents, employees, students and graduate students will appear. On a total area of ​ ​ more than 5 thousand square meters. m after renovation will be located research laboratories equipped with all the necessary equipment, telecommunications and other infrastructure; over 100 high-tech jobs will be created, including engineering and research staff. The opening of the Center is scheduled for 2023.

The center will accelerate the scientific development and introduction of advanced technologies in the field of microelectronics and photonics. More than 100 people will conduct scientific and applied activities with the mentorship of the best specialists of the Element Group of Companies. The building plans to launch a laboratory complex, a collective design center, as well as a common space with a demozone to demonstrate technological solutions developed in the center. Strategically, this place will become an accelerator for breakthrough student startups, which is very important and without which advanced development is simply impossible, "said Ilya Ivantsov, president of Element JSC.
