2021: Start of video surveillance system installation

Rostelecom has begun installing a video surveillance system and wireless Internet access (Wi-Fi) in schools in the Kama region. The company announced this on December 6, 2021. The large-scale project will be implemented as part of the creation of a single digital educational environment and the national program "Digital Economy of Russia."

Equipping schools with new equipment will allow the use of e-learning tools in addition to traditional classes, will give schoolchildren equal access to education regardless of their place of residence. IT infrastructure will also allow you to monitor the security of the educational process in regional schools.

According to the head of the regional Ministry of Communications Pyotr Shilovsky, Perm Territory was one of the first subjects of the Russian Federation to launch a project to create a digital environment and ensure the safety of the educational process in schools.

The created IT infrastructure will allow you to monitor the security of the educational process and access to state, municipal and other information systems. As of December 2021, more than 900 schools are being examined for compliance with the information infrastructure. Until the end of 2021, 257 buildings of educational organizations of the Kama region (140 schools) were equipped. In addition, from 2019 to 2021, 217 schools were connected to the high-speed Internet as part of the national project 'Digital Economy of the Russian Federation'. Thus, all educational institutions in the region are now provided with the Internet, "Peter Shilovsky indicated.

The most active part of the project is the installation of video surveillance. In test mode, we have already connected 140 cameras in schools in the Kama region. To create a single digital environment, video recorders, IP cameras, telecommunications cabinets, Wi-Fi controllers and video recorders will be installed in educational institutions in the region. In total, 140 schools of the Perm Territory will be provided with IT infrastructure in 2021, "said Peter Kozlovsky, director of the Perm branch of Rostelecom PJSC.

Cameras in schools will work around the clock. The devices will be placed so that the video includes entrance groups of educational institutions and checkpoints inside the buildings. The remaining placement points of the cameras will be determined by the leadership of the educational institution. Video from devices will go to special servers that will be installed in school buildings. Only the customer can view the image. Data retention period is one month.
