2021: Announcement of the apparatus

In December 2021, at one of the exhibitions in Moscow, the LT-1 shock-wave lithotripter developed by Sapphire Moscow Plant JSC (part of the Schwabe holding) was presented.

Shock-wave lithotripsy allows you to remove stones from the body by a non-invasive method. The acoustic shock wave in the complex is created using an electromagnetic generator. The emitter acts on the patient's body through a special pillow filled with water. An X-ray or ultrasound device is used to precisely point the emitter to the stone and control the crushing process.

The working distance of the shock wave generator is 160 mm, the transverse size of the therapeutic focus is from 4 to 12 mm, the frequency of repetition of shock waves is from 1 to 2.5 Hz.

The device has a mobile emitter of shock waves with several degrees of freedom, due to which the design, which provides free access to the patient from either side, provides comfort for patients and doctors when localizing stones and other urological manipulations.

According to the developers, the main difference between LT-1 and analogues on the market is the significantly reduced duration of the shock wave pulse. Lithotripter allows the doctor to crush smaller kidney stones, gallbladder stones and its ducts, while reducing the trauma of the process for the patient.

According to the press service of Rostec (the state corporation includes the Schwabe holding), urea and bile stone diseases are considered the second most common after cardiovascular diseases. The LT-1 complex is built on the Russian component base and taking into account the experience of domestic urology. A number of solutions have been introduced in the Schwab lithotriptor, which allowed not only to reduce the trauma of treatment, but also to conduct the procedure directly on the day of treatment.[1]
