2022: Announcement of a streaming temperature measurement system with facial recognition

On February 9, 2022, SAP announced that, together with partners Facemetric, Cisco Systems, Konica Minolta (MOBOTIX) and Skybuffer, it has developed a system for automatic temperature measurement and face recognition. The solution integrates with the corporate HR system, mail and instant messengers. The collection of biometric data and user interaction takes place through a chat bot in Telegram, various scenarios are provided for informing employees and HR specialists, as well as the formation of statistical reports. The project was implemented by SAP Services CIS experts.

According to the company, according to the corporate scenario, an employee needs to be authenticated using a chatbot to register with the system. It follows the link from the invitation letter, which is automatically generated based on data from the HR system of the enterprise. Chatbot offers to upload photos and sign consent to the processing of personal data. Subsequently, at the entrance to the room, the streaming camera-thermal imager measures the temperature of the employee and transmits the video stream to the computer vision system for analysis. The recognized employee information is sent to the bandwidth database. The guard sees on his work screen a photo, the ID of the incoming and his temperature. If no elevated temperature is recorded, the employee goes further to the office. In corporate mail and the Telegram channel, he receives the results of verification and reminders when you need to go through the next inspection. In case of disputes, employees are invited to undergo manual control. Office guests and maintenance staff undergo only automatic temperature measurement without recognition.

Digital impressions of recognized persons are stored in the system in an impersonal form, and photos of passages are deleted after a day. There is also an option to anonymize the actual temperature of the employee, in which case the system will send only information about the positive or negative result of the measurement relative to the specified trigger threshold. In addition, each employee can set their own individual temperature threshold, taking into account the peculiarities of the body.

The Telegram bot and photo download mechanism were developed by Skybuffer based on SAP Conversational AI, the data is transferred to the SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) cloud system. Facial recognition takes place using the Facemetric computer vision system, which is integrated into the SAP Data Intelligence (DI) platform, and video recording and temperature measurements are carried out by the MOBOTIX thermal imaging camera. Then all the information is processed and sent to SAP BTP, where the final analysis of the data takes place and notification scenarios are created. The hardware platform is Cisco UCS.

The system can be used in many processes within companies: business, personnel management, security systems, etc. Especially such development may be in demand in places with high cross-country traffic, for example in a business center or on the site for events.
