2022: Optimizing Transport and Transportation Management Processes

On April 11, 2022, Axelot announced that Balton Trading (Asia), using the functionality of the Axelot TMS X4 system, implemented a list of tools for managing transportation processes, controlling driver performance, financial control, and managing its own fleet.

Balton Trading (Asia) is a national distributor on the FMCG market with 25 years of experience in the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the import and distribution of consumer goods. As of April 2022, the company serves more than 13,000 outlets in all regions of the republic. Balton Trading (Asia) has a portfolio of clients from large international companies. The company's logistics handles up to 64,700 tons of orders annually.

The rapid pace of development of distribution showed that without appropriately built business processes, the management of the company's logistics becomes inefficient, which can affect the development of the business as a whole. Balton Trading (Asia) management in the fall of 2019 turned to Axelot for services in the technological design of the warehouse, the ultimate goal of which was to prepare for the implementation of Axelot WMS X5. And already in the spring of 2020, a project began to automate transport and transportation management processes based on the Axelot TMS X4 solution.

The key goal of the Axelot TMS implementation project was the transition to a specialized software solution that would simplify and make more transparent the management transport and transportation processes.

The company accepts orders and delivers in the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan. About 3,500 applications for transportation are processed in the company per day. Transportation requests are generated in the system based on customer orders issued through the corporate information system. Route planning is carried out automatically, according to the data received from the CMS, the task of TMS is to distribute all incoming transportation requests to Forwarding Agents.

Using the Axelot TMS system allows forwarding agents to receive information on routes on a special device on which a mobile client is installed. The forwarder sees a fully planned flight with the optimal priority of bypassing delivery points and taking into account parameters, such as, for example, time windows of customers. There are also a number of other possibilities, for example, the ability to mark a return from the outlet with the reason for the return, the ability to pick up goods prepared by the outlet for return, according to the procedures for certain categories of products and others.

Previously, all information on the company's own fleet it was stored was compiled and analyzed using. Excel Now, on a daily basis, the system receives up-to-date information on mileage, fuel and lubricants consumption from travel sheets. Thus, it is possible to automatically analyze information on the use and disposal of own transport funds. The actual daily mileage data allows you to predict the date of maintenance for each vehicle. In addition, Axelot TMS uses the validity control of vehicle and driver documents, which allows you to track and notify responsible employees about the end of the validity.

With the introduction of a specialized solution, accounting for logistics costs has become much more transparent and detailed. In the system, it is possible to take into account all cost elements (direct, indirect, expenses of future periods), allocating them to specific flights, transportation requests. According to the configured rules, the system compares the estimated planned and actual costs on a daily basis. If some categories of expenses cannot be attributed to specific flights, for example, vehicle insurance or the purchase of equipment in the logistics department, then they are also introduced into the system and distributed to each completed application for the reporting period. As a result, TMS allows you to generate various analytical reports, analyze and make management decisions.

Using the Datareon ESB data service bus, the company created a single information loop, which included the corporate information system, Axelot WMS X5, Axelot TMS X4. The data bus itself, based on the data unloaded from the CIM, determines which system to send message packets to - to the TMS, WMS, or both. In this way, timely exchange of relevant information is maintained, which is important for the work of all logistics departments.
